Registry

Your presence is honestly the only gift we need

We truly mean it — being surrounded by the people we love is more than enough. But if giving is your thing and you'd like to, we're registered at The Knot.

The Look

Summer Semi-Formal

Think lightweight and comfortable with a polished feel — summer dresses, linen trousers, flowy separates, and summer colors. Men, no jacket or tie required. Wear whatever makes you feel put-together and cool.

The Weather

Highs mid-70s · Lows mid-50s

July on Vashon is warm and sunny in the afternoon with a cool evening breeze off the water. Bring a light wrap or layer for after dinner — you'll be glad you did.

Footwear Note

Mind the ground

The ceremony is on grass at Point Robinson and the ground is uneven in places. Block heels, wedges, or flats will serve you much better than stilettos.

Getting There

Vashon Island awaits

Ferry from Seattle

The most common route: Washington State Ferry from Fauntleroy (West Seattle) to Vashon — about a 20-minute crossing. View the Fauntleroy schedule. Arrive 30 minutes early for busy summer sailings.

Ferry from Tacoma

Coming from the south? Take the Point Defiance to Tahlequah ferry — it docks on the south end of Vashon, close to both venues. View ferry schedules.

From SeaTac Airport

Take public transit or an Uber/Lyft from SeaTac to the Fauntleroy ferry terminal in West Seattle — roughly 30–45 minutes depending on traffic. From there, hop the ferry to Vashon.

Parking

Parking at both venues is limited — please carpool if you can. Because Point Robinson fills quickly, we're providing a school bus to shuttle guests to and from Iola Gardens before and after the ceremony. See the Details page for shuttle timing. If you're driving yourself to Point Robinson, plan to arrive early.

Getting Around the Island

Uber and Lyft operate on Vashon but availability is limited, especially late at night. Pre-arranging rides or coordinating with other guests is strongly recommended. Many island rentals are within a short drive of both venues.

Things To Do

Vashon is weird and wonderful — lean into it

Explore Downtown Vashon

Wander the main drag for locally-owned shops, art galleries, and good coffee. It's small, charming, and very much its own thing.

Drink Some Cider

Vashon has two excellent cideries worth a visit: Dragon's Head Cider and Nashi Orchards. Both are on beautiful island properties. Highly recommended.

Find the Bike-Eating Tree

Somewhere on the island, a tree has been slowly consuming a bicycle for decades. Locals call it the Bike Tree. Finding it is a rite of passage.

Visit the Troll

There's a troll sculpture tucked near Point Robinson. It's exactly as quirky as it sounds and makes for a great photo op while you're at the ceremony venue.

Hike Shinglemill Creek Preserve

A lovely forested trail winding through old-growth and second-growth woods. Perfect for a morning walk. Trail info.

Tidal Pools at KVI Beach

One of the better spots on the island for exploring tidal pools — sea stars, anemones, and all manner of weird little creatures at low tide.

Burton Peninsula

A quiet, scenic corner of the island with local shops, coffee, and waterfront views. Great for a slow morning.

Saturday Farmers Market

If you're on the island on a Saturday morning, the Vashon Farmers Market is a must. Local produce, food vendors, and good people-watching.

Dinner at The Hardware Store

Yes, it's a restaurant in a former hardware store, and yes, it's excellent. One of the best spots on the island for a proper sit-down meal. See the menu.

Lavender Picking

July is peak lavender season. Lavender Hill Farm lets you wander the fields and pick your own — it's a very Vashon kind of afternoon.

Island Center Forest

A large forested preserve at the heart of the island with miles of trails. Good for a longer hike or a peaceful morning walk among the trees.

Day Trip to Tacoma

Take the Point Defiance ferry over to Tacoma and spend a few hours at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Worth it if you have a full extra day.

Where to Stay

Rest your head after the celebration

On the Island

Recommended

Staying on Vashon is the best way to fully enjoy the evening without worrying about the last ferry. Note that July is a busy wedding weekend on the island — Airbnb and VRBO availability is limited, so book as early as possible. Reach out to Tyler or Jordan if you'd like help finding options.

Vashon Rentals

5–15 min from venues

There are a handful of charming vacation rentals scattered across the island, many within a short drive of both the ceremony and reception venues. Great option for groups traveling together.

Seattle Hotels

Near the ferry terminal

If you prefer to stay in Seattle, look for hotels near the Fauntleroy ferry terminal in West Seattle. Just be sure to check the last ferry schedule so you don't miss your boat home.
